{"id":1204,"date":"2014-03-20T13:30:04","date_gmt":"2014-03-20T12:30:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lawbird.com\/wordpress\/?p=1204"},"modified":"2014-05-05T19:06:00","modified_gmt":"2014-05-05T18:06:00","slug":"mayor-of-marbella-sues-top-lawyer-over-alleged-undeclared-assets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lawbird.com\/wordpress\/mayor-of-marbella-sues-top-lawyer-over-alleged-undeclared-assets\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayor of Marbella sues top lawyer over alleged undeclared assets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 0px; margin: 25px;\" title=\"Mayor of Marbella sues top lawyer over alleged undeclared assets\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theolivepress.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/munoz.jpg\" alt=\"Mayor of Marbella sues top lawyer over alleged undeclared assets\" width=\"333\" height=\"222\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/>THE mayor of Marbella is suing a well known lawyer over claims that she improperly declared her investments abroad.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Maria Angeles is suing <strong>Antonio Flores<\/strong>, of <strong>Lawbird<\/strong>, after he spoke to the press regarding her alleged failure to declare that she and her expat husband Lars Broberg took out a \u20ac3.1 million equity release mortgage with Swiss bank Nordea in 2010.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mu\u00f1oz has accused the brief of \u2018professional misconduct\u2019, claiming he was the main source in recent media reports concerning her allegedly undeclared assets.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As well as investments in Luxembourg, Munoz and Swede Broberg allegedly bought a 98% share in Gibraltarian company Crasel Limited, in 2003.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The town hall has reported the lawyer, who has a column with the Olive Press, to the Law Society, meaning the case will not go to court.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Spokesman for the town hall, Felix Romero claimed Flores \u2018went against professional ethics by giving insulting statements to the press, and distributing them across the internet\u2019.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Flores insisted: \u201cI have not been disrespectful towards her. I only said that she had either deliberately not declared her investments, or that she was a victim of the bank, like many others. I never made any indication which.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Concerns were first raised about Munoz\u2019s foreign dealings by a group established by Antonio Flores, called the Equity Release Victims Association (ERVA), made up of expats who have lost millions of euros through the bank.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The lawyer has filed a complaint with the Tax Office on behalf of ERVA\u2019s members, affected by investments with Nordea Bank.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr Flores will give a press conference on Thursday to discuss the allegations made against him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE mayor of Marbella is suing a well known lawyer over claims that she improperly declared her investments abroad.
